Newly single hot mamas on the Emmy red carpet

There are so many couples on the Emmy red carpet, both new and old. But this year, there are some newly single actresses too, and they are looking good.

Heidi Klum

Of all the couples attending The Emmys this year, there are a few conspicuously single actors in the crowd. Heidi Klum is one of them. The Project Runway host recently split from her husband, singer Seal, and showed up in a "seafoam" low-cut and high-slit dress. When Klum spoke with ABC, she said she chose the dress because she wanted to have a good attitude today. "I wanted something happy," said Klum. "It's still summer here in LA. I wanted something fun and happy."

Klum and Seal's divorce has gotten pretty nasty, with both sides creating tension during the split. Seal accused Klum of cheating on him with her bodyguard. While Klum denies cheating, she is now dating that bodyguard. However, he was not by her side during the interviews .

Another newly single Emmy nominee to show up alone on the red carpet is Amy Poehler, who announced a split from husband Will Arnett just a few weeks ago. The two have been married since 2003. The newly single actress showed up in a black, sparkly dress with a plunging neckline, which is somewhat rare for Poehler. The last few years, she has regularly arrived at the Emmys wearing dresses that were fully covering.

Both women showed up looking fully hot, and it's obvious single life is working for them. The dresses chosen by both showed off their new lives, but both Poehler and Klum also looked glowing on the red carpet.

Project Runway is up for "Reality — Competition Program" tonight, although Klum was not nominated in the host category for Project Runway this year. Poehler is nominated for "Lead Actress in a Comedy Series" and "Writing for a Comedy Series," both for Parks and Recreation. The show, however, was not nominated for "Best Comedy" this year.

The 2012 Emmys: Attack of the slits

Apparently Angelina Jolie started a trend with her 2012 Oscars look: Everyone from Heidi Klum to Giuliana Rancic rocked the high slits on the red carpet.

Giuliana Rancic and Maria Menounos

We saw quite a trends on the red carpet at the 2012 Primetime Emmys on Sunday night: Lots of yellow, cleavage... and plenty of leg! Stars ranging from E!'s Giuliana Rancic to Heidi Klum let their long, lean legs come out to play.

Who do we have to blame for this trend? Angelina Jolie, of course! The actress captured the world's attention when she showed off her leg at the 2012 Academy Awards, so it only makes sense that other celebs would copy.

Emmys red carpet recap: Tom Hanks tries to hire SheKnows >>

Klum gets our pick for best slit, though. The newly single model wore a seafoam-colored gown by Alexandre Vauthier.

"We are always excited to work with a new and talented designer," her stylist told AOL. "We recently started working with Alexandre Vauthier and when he showed us his collection, Heidi immediately fell in love with the color and the translucent, airy feel of the dress."

Louis C.K. and Julia Louis-Dreyfus win Amy Poehler's Emmys >>

The problem? It was completely sheer when they got it! Klum isn't afraid of being nude, but it's best if it's not on the red carpet.

"It was completely sheer, so we had the designer add lining, but then the lining made the dress feel too bulky and it lost its cool and airy feel, so we had to think and made it work!" her stylist continued.

Heidi Klum and Jena Malone

E! Fashion Police host Giuliana Rancic made her first outing since becoming a mom on the Emmys red carpet. The reality star wore a couple of different dresses during her duties Sunday night, but we especially loved her black Romona Keveza gown that showed off her taut thighs.

Even Jon Cryer is surprised at his Emmy win >>

EXTRA! host Maria Menounos also looked pretty in her Oliver Tolentino-designed gown. The former Dancing with the Stars contestant opted to crowdsource her gown pick by asking viewers to vote on their favorite. We think her fans picked well, don't you?

Why so serious, Jena Malone? The Catching Fire actress looked gorgeous -- if not a little stoic -- in her wine-colored gown from J. Mendel. Her body looked amazing in the dress, mostly because of her rigorous training schedule for the second movie from The Hunger Games trilogy.

Eric Stonestreet wins a prize, but it's not Charlize Theron >>

"Oh yeah, I'm in the thick of but excited," she told MTV News of her workouts. "I love that kind of stuff. Sucker Punch kind of got me into a regimen and now I kind of crave it."

Drooling over Heidi Klum's glam Emmy waves? Yep, we are too! Master hair guru Oribe created the gorgeous look and is sharing his tips for how to channel your own Emmy moment.

The inspiration

The Project Runway star looked glam and sexy at last night's Emmy Awards in a turquoise gown and soft, shiny waves. Oribe shared his inspiration for the look with us: “I was inspired by French fashion photographer Guy Bourdin, whose models always looked so glamorous. This look is new for Heidi because it is so soft and easy."

Get the look

  1. Start by blowing out hair with Volumista and a round brush.
  2. Next, spray sections of hair with Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray and use a curling iron to create pin curls.
  3. After your curls have cooled, release and brush them out with a Mason Pearson brush. To create flexible hold and element protection, finish off with a mist of Imperméable Anti-Humidity Spray.
  4. Statement earrings were a huge part of Heidi's Emmy look, so if you're wearing your own show stoppers, pin one side of your hair slightly back to keep it off the face.
  5. To make sure hair stays in place all night long, set it with Superfine Hair Spray.

Who's your mummy? It's a wrap for Emmys night

Gauze isn’t just for weddings and archways anymore. Last night at the Emmys, the fabric of choice was sheer, see-through, and at times, confusing. In some instances this flowing fabric rocked; at others it flopped. Here are the red carpet gauze winners and non-winners…

Heidi KlumHeidi Klum >>

Heidi Klum looked like the million bucks she receives every time she models. We searched for the most unflattering picture of her we could find, to make ourselves feel better, and this is the best we could do. She looks stunning from head to toe, and the tulle on the skirt of this killer gown shifted and swayed in such a way as to reveal Heidi’s glam gams. When you look this good, it’s not the best time for your bodyguard/boyfriend to take the night off. Our only concern with this gorgeous ensemble is her plunging neckline is in direct conflict with the gown’s revealing slits, but it’s our guess that most guys aren’t complaining. Don’t hate her because she’s beautiful? Too late.

Mayim Bialik<< Mayim Bialik

On the other extreme of our gauze gauge, we find Mayim. It’s hard to believe that a neuroscientist wouldn’t know that wearing red on the red carpet isn’t always the best choice. Bialik is almost as widely known for her vocal advocacy of “attachment parenting” as she is for her role on The Big Bang Theory. Several of the principles of attachment parenting allow for kids to decide when they stop nursing, when they are ready for school, and in this case, perhaps what Mommy wears to an awards show. That’s really the only explanation we can come up with for this matronly gown with gauze-like sleeves. But, that’s just our theory.*

Hayden PanettiereHayden Panettiere >>

This petite pretty is adorable, but this get-up has us wondering if Hayden's stint on Nashville has gone to her head. The blue gauze draped in every direction could have been flattering and dramatic, but on such a small frame and flowing in every direction, it’s just distracting. In fact, it sort of makes us want to unravel the mess, so we can reveal what appears to be a gold and glittery hit underneath. This is what happens when you get greedy by taking a beautiful gown and try to church it up with a wad of tulle. This Grand Ole Opry reject proves that what happens in Nashville... should stay in Nashville.

Zooey Deschanel<< Zooey Deschanel

We heart us some Zooey. She is quite possibly one of the most unique, quirky, funny “New Girls” to hit the red carpet in some time. That said, there is just something about this overall look that makes us think Zooey should be having her picture taken with little kids at Disneyland. We can’t decide if the look on her face is because she is also underwhelmed by her gown, or if it’s just her trademark smart-a** look of indifference. There’s nothing really wrong with Zooey’s tulle-heavy skirt – it’s just that the fairy-tale princess look is a contradiction to the actresses’ edgy persona. We’re not suggesting she should have wrapped herself in leather and whips and chains, but maybe a middle ground between sassy and classy may have been more fitting.

Emily VanCamp

Emily VanCamp >>

Like Hayden Panettiere, Emily VanCamp is darling. Which is why this gray glop just doesn’t seem to suit her. OK, gray glop is a little harsh, but this much tulle just lends this otherwise lovely gown a granny look. It just says, “Mother of the bride,” much more than “young glowing actress with killer body.” Are you with us on this? Are we completely off base? Is it just the drab color that makes her look more like a rain cloud than the ray of sunshine that she is?

Lena Headey<< Lena Headey

If Morticia Addams was banging around the house in her negligee and then decided to cover up to head to the grocery store, this is what you would get. Again, the dress underneath has vast potential, but it's gunked up with all this black draping. From the neck up Lena’s hair, skin and makeup are flawless, but this gown is a fright. The back, which shows off Lena’s tattoos, was the best vantage point of this costume. Unfortunately, you can’t go down the red carpet backward. Here’s hoping Lena fires Cousin Itt as her stylist so her next red carpet appearance will be a bit less goth.

Emmys best-dressed: Who brought it on the red carpet?

Celebs at the 2012 Emmys managed to turn up the heat on the already scorching red carpet with their gowns. The trend: Lots of cleavage -- and even more leg!

Emmys best dressed Sofia Vergara Heidi Klum

Is it really any surprise that Modern Family stunner Sofia Vergara and Project Runway creator Heidi Klum rocked the red carpet? The pair brought an international affair to the red carpet in their respective green-hued gowns.

Vergara, 40, wore a sequined Zuhair Murad dress to the show, but the gown wasn't perfect. The Colombia-born stunner showed off her serious wardrobe malfunction via Twitter.

"Yes!!!! This happend [sic] 20 min before we won!!!! Jajajajja. I luv my life!!!!" she tweeted, along with a photo of a busted zipper and her thong-clad buns.

Even Jon Cryer is surprised at his Emmy win >>

Klum didn't publicize a wardrobe horror, but we were sure she'd show off some of her goodies with her barely there dress by Alexandre Vauthier. Her stylist told AOL that the dress was even more revealing when they got it.

"It was completely sheer, so we had the designer add lining, but then the lining made the dress feel too bulky and it lost its cool and airy feel, so we had to think and made it work!" her stylist revealed.

Emmys Best Dressed Julianne Moore and Claire Danes

Yellow seemed like the go-to color on the red carpet at the Emmys: Mom-to-be Claire Danes and Julianne Moore were among the celebs to go with the bright hue for the show. Homeland Emmy winner Danes opted for comfort in her canary yellow Lanvin creation -- and we loved how it draped in all the right places. The red carpet was hot enough, so we're glad she didn't risk her health for a tight, heavy dress.

Emmys red carpet recap: Tom Hanks tries to hire SheKnows >>

Emmy winner Moore opted for a bit of a different silhouette with a high-necked Dior couture dress. The Game Change actress looked cool, calm and collected on the red carpet. She really is amazing.

Emmys Best Dressed Anna Clumsky and Nicole Kidman

Veep star Anna Chlumsky didn't get a whole lot of attention at the show, but we have to say she got ours with her Christian Siriano creation. Hard to believe this is the same girl who captured our hearts as a youngster in My Girl.

Nicole Kidman looked flawless -- as usual -- with her sequined Antonio Berardi gown. Keith Urban is one lucky dude.

What were some of our favorite celebrity moms tweeting about this week? Tori Spelling tweets about her recovery after having emergency surgery from complications from her C-section. Sofia Vergara tweets about her Emmy wardrobe malfunction – and even shows the racy photos! Moms Hilary Duff and Heidi Klum show each other love via Twitter, while Snooki and Jillian Michaels round out our list of top celeb mom tweets.

Sofia VergaraSofia Vergara

“Look at the belly!!” Sofia Vergara tweeted, with the hashtag “Modern Family,” referring to her pregnant character Gloria Delgado on the hit ABC sitcom. Although Vergara is a mom in real life to a 21-year-old son named Manolo, this is the first time her character has shown off her pregnant belly on the show!

Also on her Twitter feed? Her Emmy Award wardrobe malfunction, of course!

It all started out innocently enough. “Rocking the red carpet with Manolo!” she tweeted. Vergara looked gorgeous in a teal hand-beaded Zuhair Murad gown.

Followed shortly after with the tweet: “Yes!!!! This happend 20 min before we won!!!! Jajajajja. I luv my life!!!!” she wrote, with a link to a photo of her dress split down her backside showing off a peek of her perfectly toned bum.

“20 min Modern Family won!! Dress malfuncion !!! Thank you emergency team!!!” she then tweeted, with a photo of her team fixing the back of her dress.

It sounds like she didn’t let the dress disaster ruin her night!

“This is how the Colombians partyyy at the Emmys!!” she tweeted, with a photo of her partying with a group of tall, dark and handsome men.

Tori Spelling

After having emergency surgery on September 18 due to complications from her C-section, Tori Spelling was finally released from the hospital.

“I'm back home and thankful for all of your love and support,” Spelling tweeted, with a link to her website with a longer statement that said:

“Hi everyone — I wanted to let you know that I am home from the hospital, on the road to recovery, and overjoyed to be back with my family. I am so thankful for all of your love and support these past couple of weeks. It has meant so much to me.”

The surgery happened not long after she gave birth to her fourth child, Finn. The 39-year-old actress is also mom to 11-month-old Hattie, 4-year-old Stella and 5-year-old Liam.

Heidi Klum and Hilary Duff

HilaryDuff and Luca

“Guys!! So excited to be a guest judge on @ProjectRunway tomorrow!!! obsessed with the show! Don't forget to watch!!! 9pm EST!” tweeted Hilary Duff, pictured right with her son Luca.

Heidi Klum returned the Twitter love, writing, “What do you get when you put a crying baby w/ a @ProjectRunway designer? @HilaryDuff is guest judge!,” she said, with a photo of Hilary sitting on the judging panel on the show.

Duff also tweeted this little parenting nugget that many veteran moms already know: “Thank god i spend so much on cute toys for Luca when all he really cares about is the tag or the box it comes in!”

Snooki

Snooki is back to wearing her sky-high platforms and showed off her new post-baby body on Twitter.

“High heels, high hopes,” she tweeted, with a photo of her looking slim and trim in stiletto heels.

“how did u lose the weight so fast? You look great!” wrote one follower to the Jersey Shore star.

Breastfeeding helped a lot! And eating healthy/walking,” Snooki responded.

Another nosy follower posed this question to the pint-size mom. “Curious to know why you pump instead of just putting your babe on the boob?”

“Because I'm filming,” she responded, referring to her reality show, Snooki & JWoww.

Jillian Michaels

“My Oct. Redbook cover is out! Can't say I'm thrilled they printed my "kid confessions" hopefully you'll get a good laugh!" tweeted The Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels, who admitted to the magazine that she has gained five pounds since becoming a mom to her kids, Lukensia and Phoenix, with her partner Heidi Rhoades.

“I look at my body and go, ‘Five pounds heavier.’ But part of me really likes it.”

Celebrities take to Twitter to talk about Hurricane Sandy

$

In the age of social media, people can share their every thought with the world. So during a natural disaster, people take to Twitter and Facebook to share their thoughts and fears. Celebrities are no exception to that rule.

Zach Braff

With a massive hurricane headed toward the East Coast, a lot of celebrities took to Twitter this week to share their thoughts about politics, express good wishes for those in the path of the storm and even share their humor with the world.

Lindsay Lohan's tweet may have been one of the most talked about, since she not only called the storm by the wrong name but told America that preparing for the hurricane simply meant they somehow weren't being positive enough.

"WHY is everyone in SUCH a panic about hurricane ?” the actress tweeted. "Stop projecting negativity! Think positive and pray for peace."

Ricky Gervais took the opportunity to share his humor with those on the other side of the pond, once again. He also used the opportunity to make fun of a famous American family.

"This 'Sandy' who's on TV all the time and is blowing the entire east coast, I assume she's a Kardashian, right?" he tweeted.

The world of Twitter had been abuzz much of Monday about the many reporters and forecasters who had been put in harm's way to cover the storm, and actor Zach Braff took the opportunity to ask one media personality why it had to be that way.

"@andersoncooper why must you be 'in the storm' to cover the storm?" he asked. "Also, all hail the silver fox."

Braff, who was the force behind the movie Garden State, tweeted on Tuesday night about his former home.

"My beloved home state of New Jersey, I am sending you all the love and positive energy I can muster," he said.

Heidi Klum tweeted on Tuesday about her Halloween plans being canceled because of Sandy. She also posted a photo of her standing in a street in what looks like New York City.

"Hope you & your loved ones are safe after the storm," she tweeted Tuesday morning. "Canceling my Halloween party... postponing to a haunted Christmas."

Since many celebrities live on the East Coast, many of them have mentioned something about the storm or have been affected by it. Chances are, they will keep tweeting about the cleanup efforts in the weeks to come.

Heidi Klum's canceled Halloween party

Heidi Klum won't be able to don her latest Halloween costume tonight as her party is canceled due to the aftermath of the storm in New York City.

HeidiKlumHalloweenCancelled

It looks like Hurricane Sandy has taken down a long-standing tradition in New York City this week. Heidi Klum canceled her annual Halloween party in the Big Apple so the city can focus on repairs and cleanup from the storm that caused horrific damage to the Tri-State area.

The supermodel tweeted last night, "Hope you & your loved ones are safe after the storm. Canceling my Halloween party ... postponing to a haunted Christmas." The tweet was accompanied by a photo of Klum bundled up in a wet NYC street.

The Project Runway host's party has become one of the most-coveted invites on the New York party scene. Celebrities such as Black Eyed Peas' Fergie, singer Natasha Bedingfield, and music mogul Russell Simmons have all attended her parties in the past, dressed in their Halloween finest.

This would have been her 14th annual fiesta, but the city is struggling to come back from the devastation of Sandy's wrath. Even the annual Halloween parade in the West Village is canceled this year since much of that area of the city is without power or mass transit at this point.

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, "Unfortunately, we just cannot spare the manpower from the NYPD and other city agencies to host the annual Greenwich Village Halloween Parade, so we are postponing it to a later date sometime next week."

Klum has been widely known for her intricate costumes at past parties, including last year's elaborate dead body get up, pairing up with former husband Seal as a couple of monkeys, and the apple/serpent from the Garden of Eden.

This year, she had planned a stunning Cleopatra outfit that will just have to wait for her "haunted Christmas" party.

Hideous fashions of the MTV Europe Music Awards

The MTV Europe Music Awards, held Sunday night in Frankfurt, Germany, featured some of the most hideous fashions ever seen on a red carpet. American media gadflies may not have even heard of some of the celebrities feted at last night's MTV Europe Music Awards, but that doesn't mean we can't get an eyeful of their unimaginably horrendous outfits.

Jedward at MTV EMAs

No. Just no. Irish pop duo Jedward are pictured here, in this image which appears very much like Jack Frost had untoward congress with a large pile of acid-washed denim and Crest tooth-whitening strips.

Heidi Klum at MTV EMAs

Wait, Heidi Klum advises designers on Project Runway? And judges them for their "taste level"? When she's wearing an outfit that appears very much as if one of Jon Bon Jovi's old denim jackets sexually attacked a turquoise mine? You know, a lace-up bodice is extremely chic... in Grimm's fairytales, and in "German serving wench" Halloween costumes. Brooke Hogan rejected this gown as too tacky for her. And say, how do you like the lace-up shoes with the lace-up bodice? Klassy, no? What you can't see so well in this picture: The big, full angel-wing sleeve on the other side of the bodice. Oh me, oh my.

Heidi Klum blames "horrible" divorce on Seal>>

Rita Ora at the MTV EMAs

Rita Ora shows us how a marriage between scar tissue and one of Prince's cast-off Purple Rain costumes can work... to make you look like some kind of '80s space-whore from Mike Hodges' Jones Flash Gordon. BTW, Rita, think you forgot to button up all the way.

Kim Kardashian at MTV VMAs

Yes, fashion magazines advise those with a part of the body that's a little bigger than the other parts to swathe that part in crinkled film negatives with garbage bag ruffles. Do you suppose Kim Kardashian had a train-holder at the party that night? Oh, if only that had been snapped by some sharp-eyed paparazzo, because the only thing funnier than this dress would be watching Kim trying to walk in it.

So, Kim Kardashian walks into a swingers party...>>

Han Geng at MTV EMAs

In China, Han Geng is known as "Dancing King." Maybe he's dancing because he doesn't want the world to get too clear a look at his monumentally ugly satin jacket, which has a pattern so hideous that Kimora Lee Simmons probably immediately decided to use it for a set of Baby Phat underpants.

Lena Meyer-Landrut at the MTV EMAsLena Meyer-Landrut has the kind of name you can just picture up in lights, huh? The German singer was the winner of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest , and is best known for her songs Satellite and Taken by a Stranger. And for outfits that look like she's wearing a lobster bib over a Jessica McClintock prom dress reject from 1987.

Wendy Williams: Heidi Klum is the new Jesse James

$
0

Wendy Williams appears to have made it her personal mission to see to it that Seal gets half of Heidi Klum's millions. Comparing the model's love affair with her bodyguard to another infamous couple, the talk show host didn't bother to hold anything back!

Wendy Williams, Heidi Klum

Wendy Williams is, for some reason, taking Heidi Klum and Seal's divorce quite personally. The talk show host let her true feelings about the singer, the model and the bodyguard be known during Tuesday's episode of her self-titled show.

Us Weekly reports that Wendy Williams loudly alleged that Heidi Klum and bodyguard Martin Kirsten's romantic relationship began before the Victoria's Secret model and singer Seal parted ways.

The magazine reports that Williams said, "He's worked for Heidi in the family for four years. Seal, you know what that means — and not just when you were out of town... I don't think this is a new relationship, do you?"

Heidi Klum is so over Seal: "I've moved on">>

Back in September, Heidi Klum gushed, "I'm in love!"

Seal had previously chided the mother of his children for "fornicating with the help," but he later clarified he hadn't meant to insinuate she'd had an affair during their seven years as man and wife.

Wendy Williams, however, doesn't seem to be the least bit convinced of Heidi Klum's innocence. Asserting Seal should get "half her money," she went on to compare the 39-year-old model to Jesse James, who infamously cheated on Sandra Bullock before their split in 2010.

"I haven't reported a story about love this disgusting since Sandra Bullock and that man," Wendy Williams continued, adding, "It pains me to report stories like this when the woman, in my mind, is clearly in the wrong."

Heidi Klum breaks her silence on her divorce>>

"You don't let the finances go with this divorce," Wendy Williams continued while speaking of Seal. "I don't know how much you're worth, but she's worth more. You need half!"

Going so far as to suggest the singer find a new romantic interest of his own, she recommended, "You need yourself a new girlfriend. Someone young, hot and with a long future in modeling, and really fertile."

Her pick? Apparently someone with Internet-famous jiggly bits.

"I'm thinking someone like Kate Upton would make Heidi's pot liquor cooler," said Williams.

Do you share Wendy Williams' opinion of Heidi Klum?

Friday's Fashion Fails: Lena Dunham and Heidi Klum

Oops... even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We're telling you why Lena Dunham and Heidi Klum's fashions fell short in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars' sartorial slip ups!

Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham

Oh, Lena... we just love your HBO hit show Girls and we get that you play a quirky, awkward character on TV, but this is reality and the red carpet, sweetie. Actress-writer-director-producer and now author Lena Dunham attended Glamour's Women of the Year awards wearing this sad sack of a dress.

Her Roksanda Ilincic designed gown desperately needs a tailor. It's so baggy and shapeless, and the excess fabric in the middle does absolutely nothing flattering for her figure. The different colored sleeves remind us of our tee ball jerseys back in the day, and the mid-calf length hem isn't doing her any favors, either.

Lena should also learn how to pose! Even if your dress is hideous, standing up straight, putting your shoulders back and placing a hand on your hip would do wonders for her silhouette.

The final verdict? Lena, you can't be good at everything, so do yourself a favor and get a stylist. Your star is only rising from here on out, so you may as well learn how to rock the red carpet. Ditch the dress, but keep those shiny high heels.

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum was so bummed her annual Halloween party in NYC got cancelled due to the hurricane this year, she decided to wear a costume while hosting MTV's EMA awards in Frankfurt, Germany. Because the Project Runway host and fashionista couldn't seriously think this getup was OK, could she?

Don't get us wrong — Heidi has an amazing body and would look gorgeous in almost anything, but the lace-up bodice and super high thigh slit scream Vegas streetwalker to us. Besides all that skin showing, the printed, embellished, one-sleeved ensemble looks cheap. And the matching lace-up blue shoes are the icing on this tacky cake.

The final verdict? If you've got it, flaunt it... but don't overexpose it, Heidi! We know you're a single, sexy hot mama, but please say Auf Wiedersehen to this garish gown. We love your hair and makeup though!

Sparkle and shine was the theme on the 2012 AMA red carpet

There definitely were a few popular trends on this year's red carpet for the American Music Awards. From sparkles to shine to muted black, what did they wear?

Heidi Klum

Sparkle and shine should have been the theme for the 40th American Music Awards. The red carpet was filled with sequins and all things metallic. Those who wore sparkles kept the colors very muted, with mostly beige, light pinks, and golds.

Taylor Swift and Heidi Klum showed up in similar-looking short gold dresses. Taylor Swift wins this one, though, with a slightly less body-hugging dress. The singer just looked like she wasn’t trying as hard to be as hot as Klum was .

American Music Awards best dressed>>

Ke$ha showed up in a short taupe number similar to Swift and Klum’s , which allowed her to show off her beauty more than some of the previous dresses she has been seen in lately.

It seems many on the red carpet had some sort of metallic glimmer to their outfits, even if the outfit was meant to be understated. Pink’s dress was one of those metallic numbers, as well as jackets on Lance Bass and members of The Wanted and the Backstreet Boys. Stacy Keibler, Hayden Panettiere, Elisha Cuthbert, and Kelly Rowland also showed up in some form of sparkle or shine.

Carly Rae Jepsen

But of all the sparkly dresses on the red carpet, Carly Rae Jepsen’s may have been the best. It was longer, but equally sparkly and not as tight as some of the rest. The singer didn't look like she was trying too hard, but may have looked the most glamorous of all those on the AMA red carpet.

American Music Awards worst dressed>>

Those on the red carpet without that shine were mostly in understated black. From Lady Antebellum to Justin Bieber and Lucy Hale, the red carpet was filled with celebrities looking good in no color or shine.

Of the celebrities on the red carpet, very few of them went with color. But there were a few standouts. Nicki Minaj showed up in a lime-green gown and Carrie Underwood stunned in purple lace.

‘Tis the season to be jolly, and some of Hollywood’s hottest stars seem overflowing with the merriment of the holidays. Take a cue from celebratory celebs like Audrina Patridge and catch the Christmas spirit!

Audrina Patridge at a Bongo promotional eventAudrina Patridge

Dressing up in a sexy Santa suit isn’t the only way Audrina Patridge gets into the Christmas spirit. As it turns out, the reality star’s festive getup at a recent Bongo promotional event in Hollywood is only the tip of the iceberg. Other ways Patridge celebrates the season? Throwing Christmas shindigs at restaurants like The Den, gabbing about gift ideas for sisters and girlfriends on her blog and tweeting a picture of her pup Lady donning Christmas garb.

Grey's Anatomy actress Sarah Drew volunteering at the Los Angeles MissionSarah Drew

Talk about rockin’ around the Christmas tree! Grey’s Anatomy's Sarah Drew makes the most of Dec. 25 every year by hosting a Christmas party that would put Martha Stewart to shame — Drew and her husband gather around 400 of their closest friends and family, rent out a theater and enlist musician friends to entertain guests with live music. The star, who often spreads cheer volunteering, will have to lay off the eggnog and dancing this year — she’ll be eight months pregnant!

Mariah Carey filming the Rockefeller Center tree ceremonyMariah Carey

It’s no surprise Mariah Carey enjoys the holidays — the songstress has been churning out Christmas albums since the early ‘90s! This season, she’s already as busy as an elf in Santa’s workshop making her merry mark. In addition to kicking off the 80th Christmas tree-lighting ceremony at NYC’s Rockefeller Center, Carey’s rendition of “All I Want for Christmas is You,” featuring Jimmy Fallon and The Roots, has topped Billboard’s first 2012 Holiday Songs Chart.

Lauren Conrad filming ExtraLauren Conrad

Lauren Conrad loves Christmas so much that she isn’t even ashamed to show off goofy old holiday pictures of herself as a child on her blog. One such picture shows a young LC displaying one of her most beloved holiday traditions… deviled eggs . Her delight in all things Christmas doesn’t stop at culinary endeavors, though — she also pumps her blog full of holiday posts about ways to give back, gift ideas, holiday wish lists and even holiday decor ideas.

Lucy Hale at ABC Family's 25 Days of ChristmasLucy Hale

Playing Aria on ABC Family’s hit show Pretty Little Liars, Lucy Hale generally spends her days on the set immersed in high-school drama, small-town scandal and, oh, you know, that pesky A who keeps murdering off people close to her. We can only imagine Christmas must be a welcome reprieve! To shift gears from morose to merry, Hale throws herself into the spirit of the season by helping others. This year, she’ll be the special guest at a benefit put on by the organization Together We Rise, which strives to improve the lives of kids in foster care.

Heidi Klum at a tree lighting in New YorkHeidi Klum

Model, mommy, entrepreneur, television host… Heidi Klum seems to possess an endless amount of enthusiasm for whatever passion she pursues. Her affinity for holidays is certainly no secret — her annual Halloween parties are epic. Since she had to cancel this year’s in the wake of Sandy’s devastation, Klum decided instead to channel her holiday spirit into a “haunted Christmas party.” Just picture Heids dressed as Cleopatra and sitting on Santa’s lap and you’ve got the gist. The best part? The party was held to raise money for the Red Cross. Klum’s Claus-like benevolence continued after the party with distributing food and supplies to New Yorkers in need at a tree-lighting ceremony.

Heidi Klum wants crazy sex with an old guy

Heidi Klum is so over young hot studs and says old guys are where it's at. Don't think that's going to stop her from getting down and dirty, though — the newly single supermodel is a freak in the sheets.

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum is single and ready to mingle, but 20-somethings need not apply despite the fact that she could totally land them. The Project Runway star says that these days, older men are where it's at, but that's certainly no impediment to keeping things hot, hot, hot in the bedroom.

"I can understand why a woman finds a young man attractive, because the truth is that when men get older, their shape changes," Klum told Marie Claire. "Younger men train more, and when the clothes come off, it is nice to look at a sexy, ripped body. But I am realistic. I'm turning 40 next year; I don't think I could deal with waking up next to a 25-year-old."

Wendy Williams: Heidi Klum is the new Jesse James>>

That's not going to stop her from getting freaky, though. Klum is all about showing her wild side. "Some people are more experimental in bed and others are more boring," she says. "If you are wild and crazy, bring it on so the other person is well aware that you have little devil horns that come out every once in a while. It's good to make an effort to dress up sometimes, to do things outside of the norm."

And by the way she is totally over Seal, just in case you were wondering. "People say, 'Oh, God, how devastating to go through a divorce.' Did I wish for this to happen to my family? No. But everyone is healthy; we're moving on with our lives," she explains. "If someone got [very sick], God forbid, that would be a real problem. It's not what I wanted — it's not what anyone wanted — but it's not a real problem."

Heidi Klum blames Seal for "horrible" divorce>>

Nonetheless, she's in no rush to walk down the aisle again despite what by all accounts is a hot and heavy relationship with her bodyguard. "I don't think so. No. No," she says. "I wanted to keep the memory of our wedding alive every year, that's why I thought it would be fun to get married over and over. But now I don't think it's that important. I'm not angry about anything, but I don't think I will. Maybe if I'm with someone for 15 or 20 years, and we do it in our old age as a fun thing to do… But I don't have the urgency anymore."

Megan Fox Marie Claire UK March 2013

Megan Fox

Megan Fox showed off her post-baby figure on the March 2013 cover of Marie Claire UK. Fox, 26, talked about being a new mom to her son Noah, as well as her “soul mate“ and husband Brian Austin Green.

On having more kids:

“I’ve never been validated by work or fame or Hollywood or any of that. I recognize the blessings when they come — like, I recognize I’m so lucky to work with Judd [Apatow] — but the ultimate satisfaction for me is being with my son. All I wanted to do my whole, whole life was have a baby and, now, I’ve finally done it. I just want to give Noah as much of myself as I can. And I want to have more kids. That is where my heart is.”

On the pitfalls of cooking:

“I can cook, but I also want everything to look beautiful on the plate — then I get upset when people eat it. Everyone just tears through it and that makes me sad. It’s not a rewarding experience for me to cook.”

On her husband Brian Austin Green:

“I just think we got lucky. I believe he’s my soul mate. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t take work, because we are very, very different. But we are tolerant of each other and we try to be patient with each other, and I don’t try to turn him into me and he knows not to try to turn me into him. He really is amazing. I should never, ever even think about complaining.”

Drew Barrymore March 2013 Harper's Bazaar

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore looked gorgeous on the March 2013 cover of Harper’s Bazaar, where she opened up about her daughter Olive and her new makeup line.

On shielding Olive from the public eye:

“I definitely needed some time. For a solid six weeks, I was hiding like the Unabomber. Because I live my life in the public eye, I didn’t want that for her… unless I move into a bunker underground, I don’t have a choice in this matter. It was something that took me weeks to cope with. I appreciate my journey, but I don’t want that for my kid. Not any of it. It has nothing to do with whether I liked my childhood. I really did. But as a parent, that isn’t the childhood that I’d provide.”

On her maternity style:

“I didn’t feel I could do a lot with fashion because I wear sweatpants that I find on the floor. I live for makeup and I like wine. These are my truths!”

On her new makeup line, Flower:

“Nobody’s in gold rain or running through a jungle with their lipstick on. It was just me and some great music on a white background. That’s every girl, in her closet getting ready.”

InStyle March 2013 magazine cover

Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz

Celebrity moms Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz join Mila Kunis on the March 2013 cover of InStyle magazine. The three lovely ladies star in the new movie, Oz The Great and Powerful together.

Williams, who has a daughter named Matilda with the late Heath Ledger, opened up about dating actor Jason Segel.

“He is nice… I didn’t actually realize who he was before I started dating him. I mean, I saw the Muppets movie, and I thought, ’Oh, that’s cute,’ but the truth is I didn’t realize he made a lot of very popular, funny movies or was on a TV show. But maybe more important, I didn’t realize he was so tall [6’4”]. I thought, ’Hey, man, you’re cramping my style!’ I tried wearing wedge heels for a while to compensate, but it wasn’t me and I just gave up.“

On creating a home for her daughter:

“I cook and clean a lot these days. I’m in a very domestic cycle, and I happen to love it. I feel like this is a real expression of my love for my daughter. Not the only one, but an important one. As a parent, you want the kid to come back to a place where it seems like the walls are made of feather down.“

Rachel Weisz is married to James Bond star Daniel Craig and has a 4-year-old son Henry, with her ex-husband. She told InStyle that the best part of filming Oz was the play dates!

“Michelle’s daughter and my son are about the same age, so they went to camp together, and we took them bowling. It was really fun for me and Michelle too, because you don’t get that many mommy play dates in our business.“

Weisz also opened up about her changing style, saying:

“As a teenager I used to dress in big, baggy men’s suits, with lots of red lipstick. Then in my 20s I used to wear very tight thermal tops: Underwear as outerwear. I was much curvier then too — I’d throw on a cardigan and big jeans. I didn’t start really growing up until my 30s. But I hope I don’t ever get too grown-up. I always try to hold on to something butch.“

The March issue of InStyle hits newsstands this Friday, February 8.

Marie Claire Heidi Klum Feb 2013

Heidi Klum

Project Runway host and mom of four Heidi Klum looked amazing on the February 2013 cover of Marie Claire magazine. The 39-year-old model opened up about being newly single and her thoughts on being a cougar.

On marrying again:

“I don’t think so. No. No. I wanted to keep the memory of our wedding alive every year, that’s why I thought it would be fun to get married over and over. But now I don’t think it’s that important. I’m not angry about anything, but I don’t think I will. Maybe if I’m with someone for 15 or 20 years, and we do it in our old age as a fun thing to do… But I don’t have the urgency anymore.”

On dating a younger man:

“I can understand why a woman finds a young man attractive, because the truth is that when men get older, their shape changes. Younger men train more, and when the clothes come off, it is nice to look at a sexy, ripped body. But I am realistic. Drew Barrymore on Good Housekeeping February 2013

Drew Barrymore

Busy mom Drew Barrymore also graced the cover of the February 2013 issue of Good Housekeeping.

On not having a beach body:

“I’m still working on it, but I’m not worrying about it. We live in a society where everyone’s like, ‘Look at how amazing she looks two weeks out [from giving birth].’ I don’t want to be on that hamster wheel; that’s hell. I’m never going to have the kind of body that makes me excited about bikini season. I’ve never had a ‘beach body.’ But I want to feel like I’m showing up and doing my best. My goal is to be nice to myself, gentle toward myself, during this process. It’s such a sacred time.”

On her favorite part of being a mom:

“My favorite thing about being a mom is just what a better person it makes you on a daily basis. Every morning when I wake her up, the end game is, ’Can I get her to smile?’ And that puts me in a good mood. It’s definitely a different way to live — and a much better one.“

New York Fashion Week Day 2: Heidi Klum hosts Project Runway fashion show

The final three designers show their creations to a star-studded crowd at Fashion Week, but there's a catch — we don't know who they are yet! Plus, which judge does Heidi sometimes clash with?

Nina Garcia, Zac Posen, Heidi Klum, Michael Kors

Supermodel and super mom Heidi Klum was on hand to greet fashionistas this morning for the Project Runway fashion show, where the final three contestants showcase their designs every year. With reality cameras rolling, Heidi was joined by her fellow judges Zac Posen, Nina Garcia and Michael Kors to kick off the day and she paused to give props to them all.

"For the first time, I have one designer back there who I'm rooting for but let's see how the other judges feel about this."

"I have to say, Zac, you've been doing a fantastic job," she told the crowd. "It's not a very easy seat to fill because Michael is fantastic, and you've done a great, great job. You're funny, you know what you're talking about and I love having you."

Heidi admitted that sometimes she and Nina don't see eye to eye, but she still loves her, too. "Sometimes we fight a little bit," she explained. "We're not always in agreement, but thank you for being here again today this year."

"And you know I love you Michael! And I'm happy that you're here today as our guest judge for the season 11 finale. I love you like my brother," Heidi finished. But after she introduced her judges, she had to call cut and explain why for the first time in the show's history, she couldn't introduce the actual contestants.

"Because we are only two or three weeks on the air, we have so many designers still that we can't tell you who is still on the show basically and who is not," Heidi told the crowd. "We can't show the designers. They can't do their speech today for the first time."

Heidi did share that she's rooting for one person in particular. "For the first time, I have one designer back there who I'm rooting for but let's see how the other judges feel about this," she said.

Even though we had no idea who the designs were by, we can definitely say the fashions we saw were totally fierce! You can see for yourself when the Project Runway season 11 finale airs on Lifetime.

With the announcement today of his new CD of lullabies, new dad Nick Lachey joins stars like Jessica Alba for whom parenthood prompted the birth of a big idea.

Nick Lachey

New mommies and daddies are willing to try just about anything to make bedtime better, including singing themselves into a state of hoarseness. Enter Nick Lachey to save the day . A new papa to cute son Camden, the 39-year-old singer announced today that his album of lullabies, A Father’s Lullaby, will be available on iTunes March 13 and in stores in April. It features 12 tracks: a mix of classics, such as "You are My Sunshine" and original songs Lachey co-wrote. We predict the album will be a huge hit with babies… and mommies, too.

Jessica Alba with husband Cash and daughters Honor and Haven

Jessica Alba

When Jessica Alba found her daughter Honor in her crib covered in gel beads from her disposable diaper, the new mom decided to explore alternatives to traditional baby products. The result? The Honest Company, which Alba created to "help moms and to give all children a better, safer start." The company’s bestseller, naturally, is eco-friendly diapers, but Alba and her business partner Christopher Gavigan also offer eco-friendly bath, beauty and cleaning products.

Heidi Klum with her kids at a soccer practice

Heidi Klum

If we didn’t love Heidi Klum so much, we’d probably hate her. In addition to being a stunning supermodel, host of Project Runway and fashion darling, the model mom can now add mom-preneur to her resume. Her "Truly Scrumptious" line for Babies 'R Us— which features clothing, furniture, bedding and décor — is both adorable and affordable. Klum, a mom of four herself, kept convenience for mothers in mind when creating the collection, noting, "I thought of all of the little details to make things easier on moms."

Gwen Stefani with husband Gavin Rossdale and sons Kingston and Zuma

Gwen Stefani

A fashion icon in her own right, No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani has officially earned her spot in the industry through her L.A.M.B. collection — a favorite amongst celebrities like Cameron Diaz and Carrie Underwood. But it was the debut of her precocious Harajuku Mini line for Target that garnered her major love from moms. Inspired by the Harajuku culture of Tokyo Stefani has long adored, the clothing is a celebration of bright colors, eclectic patterns and pop flair.

Tori Spelling with kids at a Lunchables event

Tori Spelling

Received less favorably by critics than Stefani’s Harajuku Mini collection, Little Maven by Tori Spelling similarly showcases bright colors and bold prints. Launched exclusively at JCPenney, the clothing line for newborns, infants and toddlers is touted as Hollywood beachy chic — think Missoni-style chevron prints and baby fedoras. As for the mom of four, the only critics that really matter are the ones she’s dressing: her kids. "Stella even weighs in on the designs. Hattie is the perfect model, while Liam always wants everything to be cozy," Spelling says.

Heidi Klum joins America's Got Talent

$

NBC announced on Monday that they were moving forward with four judges for Season 8 of America's Got Talent. The cast includes Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Mel B, plus the surprising choice of Project Runway veteran, Heidi Klum.

Someone on the America's Got Talent set was not being very discreet after they slipped TMZ a photo of the judges table from the New Orleans audition set. The official roster for Season 8 will include veterans Howie Mandel and Howard Stern and newcomers Mel B and Heidi Klum.

The ladies replace outgoing judge Sharon Osbourne who had a pretty public spat with NBC after they reportedly fired her son, Jack, from Stars Earn Stripes due to his multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

In fact, when Osbourne was asked by TMZ if she would forgive the network for their actions, she said, "Over my dead body!"

NBC confirmed the news about Klum joining the AGT team on Monday while the Mel B announcement happened in late February.

Paul Telegdy, NBC reality chief, said in an official statement, "Heidi has an amazing career across multiple media platforms, and has built a brand that is a force in the entertainment business."

Telegdy added, "She has achieved superstardom while balancing being a businesswoman and hard-working mom, bringing a huge amount of experience, discernment and taste to the panel. As we look to develop an act that will get the world's attention, we and the contestants will benefit from Heidi's international sensibility and understanding of what works in today's global entertainment industry."

Klum also seems to be excited by her new position with the peacock network. She said in the same statement, "America's Got some serious Talent! I'm really excited to join the panel of AGT to see it all -- from the ridiculous to the fantastic! I love the surprise element of the show and not knowing what we'll see next and who will wow us. I'm also looking forward to spending time with my fellow judges - Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Mel B!"

Heidi Klum wants crazy sex with an old guy>>

AGT has never utilized four judges on the show before so the new element should add a different dynamic to the show.

Supermodel Klum is no stranger to the reality show competition format since she has hosted 11 seasons of Project Runway. The big question mark is whether she has the eye and the advice to offer the performing contestants given she's more widely known for her work in the fashion and beauty industry.

Taping for the latest season of AGT began on Monday.

Mel B booed at America's Got Talent auditions

The new America's Got Talent judge gets a poor reception from the crowd as she begins her new duties in New Orleans.

Melanie Brown at Elton John's party

No love for The Spice Girls in New Orleans, it seems.

Melanie Brown, the former Scary Spice, has replaced Sharon Osbourne as a judge on the America's Got Talent panel, and so far, the crowd hates her.

As TMZ reports, AGT auditions took place in New Orleans yesterday, and Mel B made a tactical error.

The first act of the day was the Lagniappe Brass Band, an act popular in New Orleans. But when Mel B was called upon to register her opinion, she gave them a thumbs down, telling the band she wasn't a big fan of brass music.

The crowd turned on her, TMZ reports, yelling things like "Go home!" and "No respect!"

Distraught, Mel B turned to fellow judge Howie Mandel, who patted her down.

The other members of the America's Got Talent panel, including Howard Stern and Heidi Klum, pulled through the auditions unscathed.

America's Got Talent: A Spice Girl's moving in>>

An excited Brown tweeted many times about AGT during the month of February, but none of the judges addressed the New Orleans reaction on Twitter.

Melanie Brown has been out of the spotlight for some time; her AGT gig represents something of a return for her.

She famously gave birth to Eddie Murphy's lovechild in 2007. Murphy at first denied that the child, Angel Iris Murphy Brown, was his; a court-ordered DNA test confirmed paternity.

Brown married movie producer Stephen Belafonte in 2007 and has since given birth to their first child , Madison Brown Belafonte.
